Is there a way to take over abandoned subs?

Reddit has /r/RedditRequest, there should be some way to become a mod of a sub that has been abandoned.

No I explicitly don't want this, because redditrequests was very frequently abused to hijack subs on reddit. If you want a new sub, make a new sub. If you really really want a specific one you can PM me and I'll decide on a case-by-case basis, but most likely you'll just want to make your own new sub with a new name.

Create your own SaiditRequests.
BTW... I heard that sub is nasty.
Actually, I just made that up.
