Thanks for the idea.

It is an interesting idea, to have "breakthrough" posts in a certain sub that can get a wider audience if they do well. Maybe it could be a user preference option for the /subscribed page, to enable the showing of breakthrough posts in non-muted subs that you aren't subscribed to

I think saidit right now functions like a single forum, since at any time someone might create a new single user saidit and post something which is a likely to be shown as something in subs with higher participation, when it might not be that relevant.

However, not displaying it at all might lead to isolated communities and echo chambers. So a balance between what people are interested and being exposed to different opinions should be found.

As a practical example having an hiking sub and a scuba-diving sub, hiking people might not have interest in most scuba stuff, but really cool stuff like this: https://i.imgur.com/Ebo8Fli.gifv is still interesting. ...and you'd still get access to the best content without having to see what only hardcore fans enjoy.
