How do you not see that all downvoting does is facilitate groupthink? You see other people agree with you that a comment is bad so you feel justified in dismissing it and even insulting that person(happens all the time on Reddit). People downvote out of being emotional, it's the lazy way to dismiss an argument.

I guess another thing downvoting does is canceling out other people's upvotes which i don't see why that's important... i think that's more similar to sjw culture because it reminds me of the whole cancelling stuff. Other people enjoy stuff you don't enjoy so what? Everybody needs to see and hear that you don't like it as if that's so important.
