Reminds me of went I to the doctor for depression when I was 18 because I was lonely. He gave me prozac and within 2 weeks I was full on suicidal. He took me straight off it and suddenly I was back to normal.

God only knows how many deaths these drugs have caused.

The trouble is you have a large survivor bias in the media. You have so many people queuing up to say "I would have died if I didn't have anti depressants" when they have no idea of knowing that. Meanwhile the people they drove to kill themselves can't speak.

It is called an anti-anxiety med and works fine for that but when you come off it, all the anxiety comes back at once. The feeling is like wanting to jump out of your skin. Do not take benzodiazepines, including Xanax and others, more than a month daily. The doctors know this of course but most will go ahead and write you another script anyway. In Peterson's case, he had demonstrable need for the med since his wife has cancer but do be careful with Rivotril, as it's usually called.

My personal take on it:

At least he's getting help, which a lot of addicts don't do.

Though this does solidify my view as him as Preacher, books and words are nothing compared to the personal journey, but he's back at it again, another book is coming, another 'bible'.

But also, did he pull some string to get that 'medicine?', I'm from a 'socialist healthcare' country and you get a referral to a PSYCHOLOGIST (his own profession) for this kinda thing, dope only when there is either a great will for it (but a long months-years observation period is entered then) or when it's Obvious a danger to not treat it with medicine (think straight jacket cases).

Anyway, hope he recovers and starts eating some veggies again, don't buy his books, they only cost money.

There's many studies linking "antidepressants" to increased suicide, more than just depression alone. But even if you don't believe these pills increase suicide what's obvious is they're not a good solution if they make a significant amount of people kill themselves.
