Are you sure? Cause I read a book on the men who were on the Lewis and Clark expedition. Only one of them lived to be old. Most of them died in their thirties or fourties.

This is what I've heard from multiple sources, yes.
Those guys were on an expedition so they were being exposes to all sorts of diseases a normal person wouldn't encounter. They were in extreme circumstances, so it's no surprise they have a shorter lifespan I suppose.
