A group called the Transition Integrity Project planned out 4 scenarios for the 2020 election: a decisive Trump win, a decisive Biden win, a narrow Biden win, and an ambiguous result after the election.
Since the people involved are all anti-Trump activists, their report is heavily biased against him and contains many dubious claims on what he would do. I don't trust the report at all with regards to Trump's future behavior. However, the participants' statements on what they would do are very illuminating. In every scenario, the Democrats instigated protests and engaged in authoritarian activity to get Trump out of office.
Here is the full report (PDF). Skip to page 15 for the interesting stuff. The takeaways:
The Democrats behind the report cast doubt on the concept of election night and even call it dangerous. In the 'Ambiguous Result' scenario, Trump wins on election night, but "post-election day vote counts" (whatever that means) favor Biden. This idea is very troubling to me - it fits with elections where Republicans have won, but Democrats somehow "find ballots" afterwards that bump their numbers up. This technique could be used to artificially inflate votes until Biden has enough to win.
The 'Clear Trump Win' scenario is fascinating, because in it Democratic bigwigs admit to what they will do even if Trump wins fairly by a large margin. In the case of a clear Trump win, the Biden campaign does not concede. Instead, they pressure states with Democratic governors to send electors for Biden, regardless of how the states voted, under the pretext of supposed "voter suppression" preventing a Biden win. Key quote on the Democrat strategy: "Part of the strategy here was to attack the Electoral College and to claim that the certified popular votes in these states were questionable because of voter suppression."
The Democrats go even further, pushing what they call "a radically revamped set of democratic rules that ensure the popular will prevails" which shockingly includes "abolishment of the Electoral College, making DC and Puerto Rico states, and other changes". These are clearly naked demands for power that would stack the deck in favor of the Democrats. If their demands are not met, they threaten that the entire west coast will secede.
"The Biden Campaign encouraged Western states, particularly California but also Oregon and Washington, and collectively known as “Cascadia,” to secede from the Union unless Congressional Republicans agreed to a set of structural reforms to fix our democratic system to ensure majority rule. With advice from President Obama, the Biden Campaign submitted a proposal to 1) Give statehood to Washington, DC and Puerto Rico; 2) Divide California into five states to more accurately represent its population in the Senate; 3) Require Supreme Court justices to retire at 70; and 4) Eliminate the Electoral College, to ensure that the candidate who wins to the popular vote becomes President."
"The Trump Team’s approach in turns two and three also emphasized creating the conditions to force the Biden Campaign into taking provocative, unprecedented actions—such as supporting California’s secession or sending a second slate of electors—that played into a broader narrative of the Democrats attempting to orchestrate an illegal coup. The team also tried to position Presi-dent Trump as a “unifier”—working with top CEOs, holding a unifyingevent at the Lincoln Me-morial, offering to establish a commission to review electoral rules—and as prioritizing safety and security in the face of radical groups supporting Joe Biden and trying to destroy America."
Despite Trump putting himself forth as a unifier, the House awards Biden the victory, while the Senate awards Trump the victory. "This partisan division remained unresolved because neither side backed down, and January 20 arrived without a single president-elect entitled to be Commander-in-Chief after noon that day."
This report should not be taken as a 100% guarantee that anything this extreme will happen. It was created by particularly radical Democrats. However, it is alarming to discover that high-level Democrats would admit to planning to ignore the Constitution and electoral college in the event of a clear Trump victory.
