I read a book about Paris during WW2 and half of the resistance were marxist who hated nazis but the other half were proud nationalists who didn't want dirty Germans in their country.

You need both parts to resist an invasion because you know if Stalin had been the one invading the marxists wouldn't have turned out on the side of their countrymen.

Edit: the book was Les Parisiennes by Anne Sebba. Robert Maxwell also makes a small appearance.

Having communists involved with anything is like getting pubes in your dessert. Technically you could still eat it or pick them out and eat it, but its better to be pube free than post-pube
