His girlfriend should be charged with manslaughter at the very least and inciting violence. She spread the false information, had she not done so, there would be no issue. I am also on the idea that she may have demanded to see the papers.

Secondly, his family should file a civil case against the police department for cause of wrongful death.

No, she shouldn't. While tragic, she didn't knowingly spread false information. If your partner brought back papers saying they were a pedophile, you wouldn't say anything to your close friends? Ideally, she would have confronted him instead and gotten things cleared up with the police. I am all for filing suit against the police department however.

If her spreading that information led to his death, she is responsible.

Ask the question.

If she did not spread it, would he be dead? No, the answer is no. So she is responsible.

Maybe she could have handled the situation better, but the police station is ultimately responsible for providing the wrong paperwork.

police station is ultimately responsible for providing the wrong paperwork.

Not really, the paper was privately given to the offender, while the offender gave the info willing to the girl, she spread it around and it let to his death.

Secondly, there is not always 1 responsible party, even if the police are responsible, she can be held responsible too.

If the paper had been correct and she hadn't spread it round she'd would have felt guilty of he'd then raped a kid.

If you have good reason to think someone is a paed you have a responsibility to pass that on.

Sorry that idea triggers you, maybe try to be less obvious in your paedo-ing.
