"While running away"

He struggled with police and grabbed a weapon from the officer, which was a taser. He runs and the officers pursue. He turns and fires the weapon at the officers. They return fire.

Still doesn't justify killing the man, even if your description of events is 100% true. Taser is non-lethal, doesn't justify death

even if your description of events is 100% true.

My description of events? You can see it in the video. Why would you have to question whether it's 100% true? What point are you disputing? Speak up, don't use vague hypothetical objections as a shield.

Taser is non-lethal

They're not non-lethal, they're less-than-lethal. They're weapons that can cause grevious bodily harm, especially when used improperly. You'd also have to prove the officer knew that the suspect grabbed a taser and not something else off his belt, and that he wasn't 100% sure he wasn't using another weapon when he aimed and fired at him.

doesn't justify death

Look up Graham v. Connor. You can use deadly force to prevent someone from attempting to disarm you. You can use deadly force if it's objectively reasonable under a totality of circumstances known at that time. Like, for example, a violent suspect who has already committed multiple felonies turning around and firing a weapon at you.

And what do people think would have occurred if he had effectively tased the cop and knocked him out? Would he say "Good game fellows" and stroll home? I'll venture to say he'd probably take the cops gun and really ramp things up.

So police can kill anyone as long as they assume the worst? How about no.

How to not get killed by police: Don't attack them or point weapons at them. Seems to work for 95% of most people.

You'd think, but if you actually look in to the 1004 people killed by police in 2019 you'll find that's true a lot less often than one would like to believe.

50% of people killed by police are white btw, so it's a problem every type of American faces. American police misconduct is out of control, and has gone unchecked for too long. The laws need to be updated so the bad police can face justice like everyone else. The police union protection racket must end.

How many of those people were armed and initiated violence with the police?

Are police overly aggressive? Yes. They shouldn't be getting training from a country with some of the worst human rights violations in the world. I also want to see them de-militarized. No reason to be playing seal-team-6 for the cops.

But if you attack a police officer or point a weapon at them, they have a right to use deadly force. I don't want to live in a community or town where the police are completely ineffective, like the UK.

How many of those people were armed and initiated violence with the police?

About 50%. But why does the police have more lax rules of engagement than the military does?

And what about the other 50% who could've been apprehended without being killed?

And that's not even mentioning the dozens of people who die every year from police conducting "wellness checks": https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=wellness+check+murders

This situation is outrageous compared to almost every other developed nation. It's a simple matter of police who do misconduct, need to face justice for that misconduct. Simple as that. We have a broken justice system that gives police special priority, so they can literally get away with murder. And they do. And now that corruption is rampant in the police system itself, because it has gone unchecked so long.

Okay. Still not morally justified. The man did not need to die.

You fold like a milk-soaked piece of bread

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Sounds like you're the one who has folded, actually.

[–]Questionable 5 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 5 fun -  (3 children)

You're right. He did fold. He submit to you, for no good reason. He went out his way to explain simple logic to someone who could not think for themselves, or view things rationally, or objectively. You successfully conflated the conversation, and brought the discourse down to your level.

Now if you meant something other that this. Try using sentences to form paragraphs that express your actual meaning. This will let us know what you are thinking through the use of words.

The man did not need to die. It is simple.

He folded his morals. He does not care for human life any more only authoritarianism. Brainwashed in to supporting a murderous police state.

[–]Questionable 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Don't fool yourself. Things are almost never simple. In fact making people believe they are simple, is one of the tools used to brainwash people.

Why do you keep linking the 'Hyper-normalization' doc.?

[–]cumcrust 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Lol, yes it does. Cops are supposed to allow themselves to be attacked? If he gets tased his gun can fall and the criminal can pick it up. Are you really this dense? Imagine watching a bunch of cops stand while a man tases all of them and then runs off, that is what you are saying they should of let happen.

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It’s called de-escalation. Amazing how police in other countries manage to apprehend suspects without killing them.

Amazing that you want to sit around and justify such behavior

[–]joewest1313 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

At what point are black people going to be expected to adhere to the law and follow simple commands and not fight the police or run?

Hmmmmm?

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

At what point do police stop murdering people?

[–]joewest1313 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

If they would be still and follow commands maybe the "murdering" as you say would stop.

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Not following orders justifies murder? What is this, North Korea? Get a grip

[–]joewest1313 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

"murder"

you're a joke. just stop.
