I've never heard of the passenger DUI thing and don't see how that will stand up in court. I'm sure the courts are pissed that Uber and Lyft are reducing their DUI revenue so I get why they are having their cops extort people.
As far as the keys in the ignition thing, that's nothing new. My high school friend got a DUI when camping at the beach because he had his truck running to light up their camp site and play music. No one was driving or attempting to drive, but the cops gave him the DUI anyway. He was under 21 so it fucked him over even more. Absolute abuse of the law.
