I think you are referring to an Aether theory?
Feel free to talk about it, but keep the discussions friendly if you can.

What you could say: "From the perspective of the super-liquid aether theory, special relativity is wrong, and spooky action at a distance is just a wave in the super-liquid."

super-liquid aether is a long way from 'liquids'.

Would be good to know what he's actually talking about, though. I mean, I used to play with 5T magentic fields built using helium cooled superconduting coils at about 5 kelvin, and the only liquids down there were the helium...

I know a lot of people with Aether theories, because I like to explore alternatives, and the problem is that they all differ immensely. And are used in different ways to explain things.
There are even multi-dimensional Aether theories that get a lot closer to relativity.

5T? that sounds like a MRI scanner.
