I believe there a some https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotka%E2%80%93Volterra_equations implemented (edit:) BETWEEN most body systems for survivability of the individual organism.

Edit: I believe there are natural stages in the development of a human organism: So once certain lines are crossed, certain tissue is "disabled" to grow more in a body.

Certainly these tissues do develop anyway in later stages, but the immune system fights it, so the whole organism doesn't get problems or in a way somewhat like that it works, i believe.

How does a predator prey balance have anything to do with the ability to regrow cartilage?

I'd imagine cartilage growing out of control, which possibly could be very hurtful (imagine the band washers in the spine, e.g.) and very risky / deadly to the whole individual organism.

I'm thinking about a predator prey balance INSIDE the the body as a whole system.
