Share a beautiful image from the region you are in.

I don't care where you're from, what your story is, whether you like where you're at or not, whether it's long term or temporary, whether you identify with your local politics and culture or not. Maybe you're a visitor passing through.

Use search engines or browse popular gallery sites to find your image - or perhaps you have an image in mind.

Locally reveal only as much as you feel comfortable, within your country, your state/province, your county, your city, your front yard - that's up to you.

Subject matter is up to you - people, animals, objects, scenery, nature, cities, tourist cliches, non-typical - whatever you like.

Feel free to explain or refrain from commenting on your image.

What is the point?

We can spend a lot of time wishing we were somewhere else doing something else with someone else - when sometimes we really just need to stop occasionally and appreciate the good things around us, where we're at.

I encourage everyone to consider submitting a variation on this post (not all at once). Sure, you could ask for "ugly near you", but I'm hoping you'll strive for more optimism.

It's no secret I live in Windsor, Ontario, or that I've done stuff on Wikipedia, including sort and arrange all Windsor, Ontario images on Wikimedia, including this page and this section of excellent and artistic images.

Here are satellite images of Windsor/Detroit: 1 2 I live right below/across from Belle Isle, the larger island near mouth of the Detroit River from Lake St. Clair, before it curves down into Lake Erie.

I should visit this park out my window more often, less than a block away. The Peace Fountain, Belle Isle across the Detroit River, and downtown Detroit in the distance.

Today I made this Category:Photo's by Jodelli. I have no idea who they are but they take good to excellent photos of everything everywhere they go AND copyleft shares them on Flickr, a rarity. I'm not alone in uploading some of his/hers/their images to Wikimedia Commons. Jodelli seems to have an abundance in Windsor but has traveled a lot around Canada and beyond.

Honorable mention for the Ambassador Bridge emerging from fog erasing Detroit. Fog is not common here, much less so high and dense. This rare imagery is far more typical for San Francisco where the fog makes cold summers.

Sure there are an abundance stock images of glamorous processed photos out there, but they aren't copyright-free. Nonetheless, here are a few because I can't decide and can't limit myself:
