Yes, a good post by Chipit, who is either a shill bot always or a shill bot occasionally driven by people. Swing enough times and you're bound to hit the ball.

Interesting that I've been preparing my own Libré-Festos - plus related things for /s/Cassy/ and /s/PhoenixForum.

    1) Libré-Festos

We need foundations upon which to build - fundamental ideals and immutable concepts that will never change no matter how much our communities and projects get infiltrated as the powers that be try to corrupt and destroy them.

" These outlines should clearly explain the liberty-based core fundamentals, goals, and objectives these next-gen forums aspire to. In moments of doubt or crisis, these will be the founding documents to keep us on course. "

    2) Template Sets (for lack of a better term)

To resist the technocracy what will be critical in decentralizing and distributing our free flow of information is the easy application and adoption by ALL users everywhere, including resources for anon-hosting - with 4 fundamental user levels.

    1. Plug-And-Play
    2. Basic Beginner
    3. Advanced
    4. Expert

Not everything will be as simple as plug-n-play, but at least we can aim for that ideal simplicity. That brings me to the concept of "Template Sets":

I wrote the above this morning. I've been setting up a new forum server today with Larry. More on that soon. Also, the comment above is basically a sort of first draft of a critical post I was going to make anyway. More on that soon. I've saved this and will finish later. I need to restart this browser. Sorry for stalling and flaking.

Yes. I call it pooling - even before the bots. The votes are not a good measure of quality. I recently posted my idea for MetaVotes™ but no one saw it so I'll delete it and post again sometime, perhaps with illustrations. I'm pretty sure that if folks saw it there's be at least one other vote for effort even if folks think it's a meh idea. Even if it were the greatest idea ever, there's no guarantee anyone would notice. Thus proving the pooling problem. People only vote on what has been seen before. The only good that voting does is NOT elevate the shitty posts (ie. ads and trash), sadly along with all the unseen content.

Building the MetaVote™ would take time and energy and talent and coders - so it's just a concept for the next-generation of forums. The database ramifications would be absolutely revolutionary - and this is where automatic sorting into tribes and your trusted friends idea come into play (also, STABs will be STABs and can also be easily filtered out without to much work and zero need for censorship (unless they absolutely clog the system somehow)). Meanwhile we're working with what already exists on a decentralized forum.
