Met a very old lady.
She pointed at the cherry tree and said that she had planted it about 10 years ago.
It was started from a cherry pit from a cherry tree in her yard. That tree had been planted by someone who came down the Oregon trail in a wagon!

send some seeds to the seedsavers! some cherry trees grow huge, easily over a hundred years old. i have a big stump in my front yard that was cut down just before i moved in.

Good idea. Once it starts bearing fruit I plan on replanting a bunch of them, too. Need lots and lots of fruit trees. Apples, plums, cherries, walnuts, and filberts all do well here.
