It's about things that seem like they're from theonion (The satirical media source) but instead are not fake and are actually real.

I saw no pattern, see no sub description, and didn't laugh, but still figured it was related to The Onion who's comedy I've enjoyed for a couple decades and even have a stack of them around somewhere.

I thought this was sub-meta funny.
