On land and the CIA's “Acoustic Kitty” project saw cats be surgically modified to increase their hearing to spy on targets, however, records of the project were allegedly destroyed in a fire.

It was one cat altered with a microphone in its ear, a radio transmitter at the base of the skull, and an antenna in its fur.

It promptly wandered off into traffic and was killed by a taxi.
