I'm not part of the "Jews did all the things, ever" crowd that frequents this site, but even I can recognize when a particular group has a level of protection and favoritism in society that outstrips virtually any other.

The sad part is Kanye was mostly right. He just needed to be more specific. It isn't Jews, it's Zionists. Which many non Jews claim to be as well. At least people in governments who are not Jews call themselves Zionists.

I'm with you for the first two sentences, you start losing me after that.

He is correct that the financial industries and the entertainment industries are both run by mostly Jewish people. But that doesn't mean it's RUN by "THE JEWS".

Where he and a lot of people who frequent this site are wrong is that there is no conspiracy on the level they think there is.

Jewish people are a protected class and have been since the end of WW2. But that doesn't mean they are the ones that choose or enforce this.

You are partly right about Zionists, because Israel was and has been a clusterfuck. They literally displaced people who were already living there.

There is also truth the the fact that in the US Zionists tend to get more pull than they should, largely because of the convenient placing of Jewish people in financial and entertainment sectors and the amount of funding we send towards Israel is kind of crazy.

But not quite as crazy as the Anti-semetic people think. It's more strategic than that. The U.S. has been trying to get a decent foothold in the Middle East since forever for strategic reasons. The U.S. has similarly over funded other regimes and countries in the Middle East like Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and more. Israel so far has offered the most steadfast and truly loyal relationship to the middle east from the U.S. Israel might as well be a U.S. territory in some ways. They are the second most advanced (not powerful but advanced) military in the world and much of our funneled dollars end up paying directly back to us because their research is shared with us. Hydroponics technology, air and missile defense, and many more technologies come almost directly out of our close relationship with Israel.

Also to add, Palestine and other Arab states in the region are not entirely innocent either. Their position is understandable, but they use some down right barbaric practices towards Israel and American forces in the region.

Now that doesn't mean I fully support it. I'm part Middle Eastern. I come from a partly Muslim family.

But people on ALL sides of this debate tend to overstate their own sides and overlook many of the complexities and nuances in the clusterfuck that is the middle east and American/Jewish relations.

My biggest beef with how we handle Kanye is that his points should raise a discussion. Even if he is 100% wrong, it would be much better to PROVE that publicly so that others can learn from the debate, rather than censoring him and pretending like it's 100% him just being evil or crazy. He's neither. He's just a bit misguided and tends to frame things in overly dramatic ways, which makes his lyrics in music more compelling and interesting, but isn't the best at avoiding controversy and encouraging discussion. He needs to learn from THIS.
