inundated with messages from trolls suggesting she should use laser hair removal to be rid of it.
Literally the only thing which will work permanently but ok we're trolling. Keep at it, if the hair is dark, and the hair will go eventually.

Nope. Laser hair removal does not work well on the face at all.
The best permanent method is electrolysis, which will take years to get rid of it and can cause scarring.
