Suppose you hit him on the head with a most tiny bitch-slap. Then you can hear him sucking air through his ears with a "pfff"-sound. Most likely he drops on the ground after this. Because his pseudo-spine he simulates can't carry the weight of the "excess" air. So he stays on the ground until he he starves, follows from this as the most probable alternative.
