See? Disabled people can be important too. Well, let’s just save time and make a fake one

This is bizarre. Perhaps they can create an Instagram filter so we can all support the current thing.

I have a neighbour with downs. He tries his best to be a decent person and as selfsufficient as he can be, he makes smalltalk when we do the laundry, very well adjusted person. That is great! He doesn't need to be a hot influencer or whatever. That is ridiculous and not dignified! Let them be and live in peace!

I agree ruby, I don't think anyone needs an 'influencer', but targeting a vulnerable population seems particularly exploitative and disturbing. Social media is free because you are the product, not the purchaser. This is a blatant attempt to use woke values as cover to target these people with products and advertisements, and it is despicable.

Thankyou well said. It is upsetting that they even go after the most vulnerable to comodify and profit off of them. Says a lot about the world we live in.

Beauty is a sign of good health.

Also, Kami is a japanese word for a type of god.

Also, I love how all these autism like organisations do all the can highlight the very thing they try to make people accept as normal. As in, look, we are special, IE, not normal.

Also, AI. LOL. good luck.

Autism is a super power.

Admittedly banging your head against the floor when you don't get your own way is a shit super power but still.

I don't know how much sarcasm is involved, but ASD is an spectrum. You have wall-bangers, but you also have people quite functional that haven't even been diagnosed.

I've spent a lot of time with autism fanatics and spent a lot of time looking at their place in society historically. We live in a society that worships abnormalities and one that has no defined roles for people to follow. In the past people knew what was expected of them, who they could talk to, how they had to talk, where their place was in society. Now, people have no idea and any small notion of difference is treated as a special case.

Spectrum are all bullshit. You either are capable or you are not.

This just sounds like a lord/peasant thing.

What do you think a spectrum is?

You can be on the functional end of the spectrum and be "cabaple" or be non-functional and thus "not capable".

There are many aspects of society that have levels and expectations. They are not just in rank. Once upon a time you didn't have to think about whether or not you should hold a door open for a woman, it was just expected. A young boy would be considered a growing man when he first opens the door for women. Even if it is just for his mother or sisters. Now, opening a door for someone has a hundred brain damaging pseudo psychologies going of at once.

When I said spectrum are bullshit, I mean in the face of how to act. You either hear what is being done and know how to respond, or you do not. Functional? What does that even mean to you? Can the person feed themselves? Can they make friends? Can they hold a job? Can they learn? Does their heart beat under their own power? These are on and off switches, a spectrum does not say you can half do one of these. You either can or you cant.

Everone should hold doors just for everyone and no one should get pissed.

Functional = Capable

How does ASD have to do with the heart? My point is that not all people diagnosed with ASD have the same sympthoms or functionality, so some can kinda deal with things in life and act "normal", and others are wall-bangers that communicate by writing on a tablet. The varying gravity of the condition, that's what means being on a spectrum.

[–]Anman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

SHOULD, is the key word there. Further, one persons should is different to anothers. And that is part of the problem here.

So, they are either "normal" or not huh?

[–]_XEAL_ 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

IMO, acting normal doesn't necessarily imply being normal.

[–]Anman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

But when you know how you must act, your anxiety, anxiousness and nervousness levels go down. One does not have to fret over how or what they should do a thing and can focus on what is important, such as the core task at hand.

The power to do something most people would not do is valuable. Sometimes.

It does not look like it has downs syndrome, it just looks goblin like.

It looks like a retarded goblin

My first thought was "it looks like a Russian"

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

"Influencer" - of what?

[–]TarBaby 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Drugs

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe.

Non-Downs cyber-goth people wore that style at Burning Man 20+ years ago - well before coloured hair was everywhere or a trendy political statement.
