...are these supposed to be "kawaii" versions of the monster demon who hides in vaginas, and bites peepees off??

Edit: also, wtf, why are "straight" men dressing as women to carry the penises? It didn't say anything about that in the myth - a blacksmith made a iron-based penis and used that to break the demons teeth lol he didn't cross dress.

Japan has some amazing festivals.

I've been to the largest tug-o-war rope in the world festival.

I'd go back to see that again.

wtf, why are "straight" men dressing as women to carry the penises?

Probably two reasons.

1) The Penis God demands a sufficiently massive and well constructed penis, so it's a heavy burden to shoulder.

2) If a man was ever presented with a photo of his female family member smiling and carrying a massive penis, then honor would demand an on the spot duel to the death.
