You could make a strong argument that child marriage is a lot better than pedophilia without marriage. So even when compared to the most oppressive, anti western-ideals religion there is atheism is still worse in this regard.

In Islam you have to have sex to "consummate" the marriage. You can't argue that just because the government gave the creepy old dude a paper that it's suddenly better or okay.

It is still better than raping a random little girl and leaving her pregnant and alone, which is the Atheist way. At least they are required to take care of the girl and the kids. At least they have to go through a ceremony and have some contact and the kid can prepare mentally for what is about to happen. As fucked up as it is, the Atheist way is STILL MORE FUCKED UP. No amount of "but but but it's so bad" can change that fact.

That makes sense, but is he really going to take care of her? Even in the US in protestant marriages between two adults you see plenty of abuse and neglect.

Christianity too requires sex to consumate a marriage. The Catholic church allows for annulment of unconsumated marriages, not sure about others but I'd imagine it's common.

I don't need any convincing Islam is garbage, I just meant it's a common theme that marriages aren't valid unless consumated.
