I think this may be political hyperbole. 104F requires accomodations to allow people to attend outdoor events safely . Here in Texas, we had laws passed about two decades ago about outdoor gatherings in these kinds of temps because otherwise -- and I have personally experienced this, people just start slumping down wherever from the heat and they get sick and need help.

It was so common, feeding ice chips to the sick person was a pretty common sight at shows. Concert goers were really cool about that in my experience. Total strangers would help you out. Then they had to do EMTs and medical tents and have free sources of water -- can you imagine, 104F and no water unless you stood in line for 20 minutes and paid $5 a glass, but that's how it was.

I have no problem with making it safer, I also have a huge problem with some asshole getting hammered and not hydrating and dying and now concerts are banned. It's the same reasoning as to why I have a 15 minute timer on my turkey fryer, because stupid people burned their house down with them. Not really my problem, and now I have to set a timer to turn my fryer back on four times to cook a bird. I disabled it really, but my point still stands.

All your points are valid, and I agree that things can and should be made available. Canceling life? Canceling life through a gubmint? Nah, I'll skip that. The vast majority of people are fine at these things in reality.

I was unaware of any current laws passed anywhere, which made this sound worse to me. Even still, I don't need safety from my govt. I can handle that on my own.

What's next? Pools are disbanded because a child drowned? It isn't that far away from this. It never stops. And personal responsibility will always remain more important in my book.
