It was a miracle. If the manufacturer is hiding negative data it looks great for the first few months, and it was developed in literally-record time.

The fact is far eastern countries had more immunity to previous corona viruses when covid was released.

Everyone knew this but they pretended not to so they could get the west to adopt the same measures as them, masks, lockdowns, social tracking, etc.

Now a variant which they don't have immunity to has arisen suddenly they are having all the same issues the West had, with all those measures still in place.

It's worse in Hong Kong where they were so sure of their ability to avoid infection most old people didn't get vaccinated so now they are dropping like flies.
