It is, and it is caused by toxicity, mainly through lead, mercury and aluminum.

Obesity is more caused by toxicity than by overeating. We all know young people who can eat anything and not gain an ounce of fat. But then they slowly accumulate toxicity and they get the impression that "metabolism slows as you get older" when in fact it only gets wrecked as a function of poisoning.

Good point.

From Ivor Cummins, I learned that we are poisoning ourselves with sugars and Insulin.
Insulin levels stays high for a hours after eating something, removing sugar from the blood and sending it into the fat reserves.
So if people eat a cooky or sugar drink every hour, the fat reserves are building up continuously.
And at the same time, these people experience low energy.

There are also problems with toxicity of oxidized fat, usually processed vegetable oil. It creates toxins similar to Cyanide, and disable the mitochondria.
This can also causes low energy levels, after which people start eating more.

I recommend everyone get a cheap blood sugar monitor and test themselves after meals for a couple of weeks to see what puts their blood sugar up. It's a pretty individual thing.

frak! cookies are the main staple of my diet. I can't find better alternatives that go well, taste wise, together with coffee.

But mercury from tooth fillings and vaccines is a much much bigger culprit. The obesity epidemic in the USA also coincides with the consumption of toxic pharmaceuticals.
