With all the insanity going on around us and the degeneracy of politics you would think people would start using all the time and resources have available to try to find solutions to the problems striking society, but I think people have become so apathetic towards the basic ethic of the collective good of the nation or even a simple, humanistic and empathic view towards others that they may even see this as a waste of their time.
I think It's also related to how well the ruling groups understand the way people relate to each other. Through their manipulation of the media they have for the most part eliminated people's capacity to understand societies problems and seek for solutions together, also getting rid of any opposition in the process. I'm not saying all libetarians are like this but I'm sure It's one of the worst social issues affecting society. People despise being held accountable for anything and would rather escape reality through ignorance and nihilism rather than facing their own sins.
One point that nihilists have is why would people have to defend ethics like the collective good of whatever when there appears to be no sacred standard or dictating rules that properly define what morality is. Why should people try to do good instead of living a selfish live or even being a villain?
I think It's the role of nationalist groups and philosophers to find answers to all these questions and bring order to society for once.
