I miss my babushka :( she was Romanian and awesome. When I was around four, she taught me my first Romanian phrase - “your mother’s pussy” - which is one of the most foul/disgusting insults you can say in the Romanian language.

When I was over at her house and she was watching me, she’d have me go around and say it to her Romanian friends while she was watching me and they were playing cards or backgammon, and I didn’t get it but loved the laughter it caused, so it quickly became apart of my daily language which was how my mom found out lol.

I’ve only made my moms eyes bulge a few times in her life; this was the first and I’ll never forget it. Our play room was by the kitchen, I remember I was playing sega genesis, and yelled out “pizda mati!!”. She came in and was like “wtf did u just say?”.

My babushka got in fucking trouble 4 that one lmao.

Did she wear the babushka cloth hat and everything? Mine did when it was cold out or in the summer when we went to the beach or something lmao!

I remember I thought they were cool, like capes but for your head!

Not her, but my great great grandmother used to wear them all the time. And she used to call us "little cabbage heads" in Polish.

Little kapustas?

I had a Polish science teacher in high school who taught us the metric system. I was the only one who know what a decikapusta was on the test, even though I didn't know what a kapusta was.

Aw I wish I got to meet my great grandmother!! My grandma passed young unfortunately, only a year or two after that.. she was still in her mid 50’s. And yours was polish?? Haha the Romanians have respect for the polish, they say they’re very tough people (being land locked like they are, I’d assume they’d have to be). I’m sure she was funny too.

I think she was Polish but lived in Austria. All my great grandparents were immigrants, and I think my family in general was from mostly Eastern Europe/Slavic countries.

My great grandmother was a stern woman.
