Pharrell is super interesting, I could listen to him talk about music for hours. His love for it is contagious.

NERD and the Neptunes are great man. I really like his older work, I feel he was at his prime. Songs like Spaz and Everybody Nose will always be classics to me. He truly is a dope producer.

I just don’t like how far Rick Rubin has his hand up his and every other artists ass.

Yeah the old stuff seems like original rock and roll music, it’s so soulful. I like the beats like in Everybody Nose and in Snoop Dogg’s Drop it like it’s hot that are kind of stripped down, but it’s still got this depth to it.

And you’re right, he has this eagle eye for artists that lets him single out what is unique about their sound and amplifies it. He does have his own sound, but he still has the restraint to know that his sound doesn’t work on everyone.

It really is! This was the song that made me discover him back in the day, and it's far from his best despite being a great song imo.

And Rick Rubin just creeps me out. He works with literally every musical artist in the industry, and says he's into "the esoteric", and he sees his job as seeing "the esoteric" in each artist he works with, and bringing that out. I see him as some kind of creepy wizard lol.

Exactly, Rick Rubin comes off as very self aggrandizing
