In Manhattan, c.1998-2001, I was at an interesting and memorable party thrown by Joseph Cultice. I'd forgot or never knew his full name until now when I looked up the album cover for Marilyn Manson's "Mechanical Animals" because not only had he taken that photo, he had giant photos all around his huge empty/minimalist concrete apartment. My fave was the Blondie photo, faaaaar too big to even fit in most homes (I'm pretty sure, but being drunk may have affected my recollection). He didn't have much furniture or anything for that matter. I was guessing it was a live/work studio, not just an apartment, different much like friends in L.A. and S.F. and even me when I lived in Oakland. So little furniture. At one end was a bench-like table with a collection of vintage toy ray guns. Odd. So were many of the guests, though all very nice if you weren't afraid to talk with them. I probably met some other semi-famous people there but obviously nothing stuck in my mind, and certainly no one like Manson or Blondie were there.
