Itami Juzo's wife stars and she has a keen comic sense. He was the best director of his generation but his career ended too soon. His movie Yakuza so offended some of them that he was given a near-fatal knifing that needed a long recovery. Then he had a police escort with him for two years. Within days of the escort being withdrawn, he was thrown off the roof of his office in Roppongi, Tokyo though the official story was suicide.

You're just a wealth of information aren't Mr Hennaojisan! Have you seen this movie? It was a hard slog, and even my Japanese wife was like "why are watching this?"

I've seen it twice. It was a bit long but funny I thought. Not Itami's best.
