It's especially odd that they took a nation of slavers and murderers and made them into heroes for blacks. Usually woke Hollywood takes innocent people and accuses them of slavery.

It's literally inaccurate. It's the opposite of what happened. They don't show Dahomey's slaves, they pretend that Dahomey was fighting for freedom, which they did not do.
