Some contemporary scripts are reminiscent of what was posted to fanfiction.com a few years ago. You might guess why.

Also, the modern "writers room" might have too many cooks in it.

I mean Star Wars was itself fanfic of Japanese films and westerns.

I guess they were often fanfic of the classics.

The trouble is that while reverential stuff is fun to keep the quality you need to keep referring back to real life, as in all art.
