If there weren't common actions and expressions within neurodiverse groups then they wouldn't know the actress was copying them, would they. It would just be read as a personal quirk, part of the character she created.

Also as someone who works in the industry I can say that this kind of exclusionary casting will only hurt neurodiverse people as any ASD actor is going to be playing far more neurotypical roles than autistic ones.

Dyslexia also counts a neurodiverse and they must make up near half of the acting industry if not the majority. But when is a character ever written as dyslexic? Really they should never be employed again.

Edit: Also it's actually illegal for employers to ask you if you have a disability as well as about any other protected characteristic. Union rules also mean it's fine for actors to lie about this stuff as that's seen as part of the acting process for many especially in Hollywood, they stay in character through the whole audition process.

As I said, we don't. We have SJWs pretending to be autists who have a movement. Us autists couldn't give a fuck (and I know lots of us). That hive mind socially based mob activity is NOT an autistic trait, it is a neurotypical trait, and one that we are functionally disconnected from.

Take any of the supposed autistic people in that movement and all you'll find is someone larping, imo, or someone young who is being controlled by their parents and is just being a mouthpiece. Most often female for that one, due to the masking strategies we are good at.

protip, most of the offended people are just leftists LARPing as autists. One of the reasons I left r*ddit was mass invasion of autist subs by leftists pretending to be us, so they could tell us how to think and feel.
