We Were ALL Lied To - Daisy Ridley Confirms it. Daisy Ridley was asked if Palpatine was always her relative. No, he was not. The utter lack of care and direction regarding the sequel trilogy has me beyond bothered. I found it hard to find my words in this realization that we've all been lied to.

What How is this surprising at all? There were no scripts and no arc. There's no reason those movies should exist. Just a bunch of big egos sitting around spit balling with "wouldn't it be cool if..." and an EP reminding them "that the future is FEMALE!!!" It was a pure cash grab nothing more.

Oh and also it was a great opportunity for them to destroy an iconic white male hero because we can't have those in this day and age. Imagine having the opportunity to continue the story of Luke fucking Skywalker and doing it so poorly. The sequels also have been written a dozen different ways via books and comics. We could've had Mara Jade but instead we get "stop holding my hand!" whiney sterotypical Mary Sue strong woman lead with razor thin raison d'etre.

Raison D'etre would be an appropriate name for the sequel's lead character.

Or better yet, the surname of the clan scions.
