Short film - The Last Man by hfxB0oyA in Movies

It doesn't get much more depressing than this: the feeling of being completely alone and surrounded by destruction.... Coming soon to a city near you. Many souls enter the spirit realm in this condition, because of their selfishness and lack of love. If only people knew that the Savior is always present to those who call on his name. They would then realize they are not alone.

The last scene turned this film into a love story. Mercy loves to triumph over judgment.

The comic Spider-Man is a tragic figure who can never achieve happiness because Peter Parker being Spider-Man prevents him from being happy. Perhaps that's the reason for the plot of SM-NWH. Peter Parker finally gets his girl, then loses her. It didn't have to be like that. Dr. Strange could have made the world forget that Peter Parker was Spider-Man not that Peter Parker existed. If Peter Parkner never achieves happiness, then the audience never achieves happiness. Why would anyone watch a movie that makes them sad? Tomdaya fans watched SM-NWH because they want to see them together although the ending is sad. If Marvel does not bring them back together, it would lose these fans. MJ is a fixture in the Spider-Man comics and should remain in the Spider-Man movies.

I think Marvel/Disney may have jumped the shark with SM-NWH, albeit a way to address a number of problems that developed in the previous movies. That said, I think Spider Man is one of the worst Stan Lee / Steve Ditko stories, because he didn't really understand puberty, teenagers, spiders, relationships &c in a manner that could have improved the story immensely. It's still not clear how much of the original plot was Steve Ditko's and how much Lee stole when editing the story, but that collaboration - albiet famous - was not very good for the story IMO. Disney/Chris McKenna/Erik Sommers/Columbia/Marvel/Sony arguably made it worse while also improving the original story, culminating in the time-travel plot hole fuckery of SM-NWH. SM-NWH grossed $2 Billion worldwide, because it combines interesting features of the Marvel entertainment formula, at the core of which are the relationships of the characters, though they lack much depth.

I think it was stupid for Marvel to make Spider-Man: No Way Home a dark and sad movie. Near Christmas at that. I would make Spider-Man 4 undo everything that was done in Spider-Man: No Way Home. I would have Peter Parker having lost MJ and Aunt May lose his will to live. He begins drinking heavily. In a battle with the Avengers, he shows a reckless disregard for his life. Dr. Strange takes him to the Sanctum Sanctorum to talk to him. Wong tells them Aunt May isn't really dead because she died by something in another universe. Her spirit resides in a Netherworld guarded by a monster. If her spirit is not rescued by someone who loves her, she will die. Spider-Man rescues her. Because Aunt May is back in this world, Wong can change Dr. Strange's spell. He makes everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, not that Peter Parker exists. Peter Parker, MJ, and Nick will attend NYU not MIT and MJ decide to pursue a career in writing instead of science and technology. A happy movie like Spider-Man movies should be.

Denis Villeneuve says 'Dune 3' will be his last 'Dune' movie. by Dune1032 in Movies

The book, Messiah was not as popular as Dune. Why should Villeneuve think a movie which follows Messiah would do better than Dune Part 2? I wouldn't follow the book. Dune 3 should start where Dune 2 ended not 12 years later. I would have Paul realize that he doesn't want to be Emperor. He just wants Chani who he knows is pregnant with his child. Arrakis is attacked by people from another planet forcing him to flee to Caladan with Chani, his mother, and Gurney. He also learns that Arrakis at one time was a fertile planet, but the Harkonnens made it into a desert by controlling the weather in order to make mining Spice easier. Paul plots to return to Arrakis and return it to the Fremen and change the climate to its previous condition. Dune 3 would be a happy movie with Paul as a hero and Chani as his wife. In contrast, in the book Messiah, Paul becomes a villain. Herbert wanted to show what happens when people follow someone fanatically, but there is already a historical example, Hitler. What is the point of making a dark, sad movie? Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya are very popular. People would love to see them happy together.

Strawberry jam on his stool.... "I can't tell you how relieved I am...." "4 tons of chocolate rabbits"

44:50 strawberry jam on the stool again

At the end we realize his blood tastes like strawberry jam.... Blood (strawberry jam) on his feces (stool).... The sodomite gateway....So many different beings come in through the back door. But they were all actors and deceivers.

It's as if we begin life in a cube. We don't know what's real or why we are here. What is the purpose to our life on earth? We just know we exist. We don't remember that we existed before we came here. We find ourselves in a cube (a prison) and don't know the way out.

It's reality vs. illusion. The people in the videos we watch are actors. The newscasters are paid employees of the news corporations. Politicians are in on the illusion. Humans also deceive each other, projecting an image that is false, pretending to be something they are not. Which of us is completely honest? Who speaks and acts as they think in their innermost being?

The people in mainstream media do not give us the truth: the only truth that could save a soul from an eternity being lost. Reality: Jesus is the door to the sheep. He leads those out who listen to his voice.

John 10:1-5 KJV

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

There are 9/11 symbolism in this, Romulus and Remus are twins. Twin towers. There's a character named Kay, K is the 11th letter. Kate brother is named Tyler, that has an I or eye sound in it, the ninth letter.

Another movie coming out that has Roman 9/11 symbolism is megalopolis. Deadpool and Wolverine could be seen as one too. I'm not sure why but the elites are pushing this sort of symbolism right now to signal to each other what is coming.

Or the fact that it attempts to justify Prometheus and its "Black Goo" story line?

I remember seeing 'Alien', in the theatre, near the screen, the night it opened in my town. I hadn't seen anything like it before. It was a proper sci-fi horror movie, with an entirely new look, direction, feel, with many surprises, and I had a feeling of awe, anticipation and anxiety throughout the film. It's also aged relatively well and is rewatchable. Subsequent Aliens were OK when they had something new to offer, but were not as good as that first experience. This latest Romulous has many of the same ideas and appeoaches as previous Alien movies, which is why it's not as surprising or interesting or compelling. It's OK and has redeeming qualities, but it lacks some of the awe-inspiring qualities that made Alien successful.

[–]Uden_One-Eye 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am constantly on the lookout for woke stuff. I won't watch most shows or movies when I detect even the faintest whiff of a woke or political agenda or talking point. Nefarious was pretty good, in my opinion. I understand not everyone is going to like the same stuff, but I think you're looking too deep into some of the plot points or topics in this flick. He thinks he's a demon, so his "anti-abortion" rant was more than likely meant to be from the perspective of a fallen angel. It's probably just a religious viewpoint meant to be derived from biblical scripture. It would have been far more politically motivated or woke-centric, in my opinion, had he said God was ok with it, that it didn't matter, or not mentioned it at all (though the latter could have been chalked up to a few different things, like they didn't want to be controversial or just hadn't considered it, for example). He's talking specifically about how flawed mankind is and how easy it is to lead them astray.

I'm not even sure what "BLM" stuff you're referring to, but as far as I can tell, they kept the movie pretty on-point regarding the thriller/softcore horror genres (by "softcore horror" I only mean there isn't a lot of—read: none—slasher vibes and minimal gore present) devoid of woke propaganda and sticking to a relatively strict biblical interpretation of the religion (Christianity) being used in the movie. I mean, I'm not saying you "need to" or even "should" like it, but it just appears to me that there's a good chance that you're looking too deeply into some of the things that were mentioned, which is understandable in today's society, honestly, and I'm 100% positive I've done the same thing on multiple occasions.

Just my thoughts.

As far as good, non woke thriller/horror movies go:

  • Late Night With The Devil (I thought this was excellent.)

  • What You Wish For (Don't let the first 10-20 minutes turn you off, it's not bad at all.)

  • Haunt (I think there was minimal wokeness. A few parts kinda irked me but I was too far in to give up. It's not horrible.)

I can't blame her entirely for how bad Madam Web was. The plot was stupid and no one shined in this complete flop. The concept itself must not be that amazing or it would have been done. The studio banked on a female superhero movie, but didn't put much effort into it. I haven't seen anything else she's been in, but her acting was terrible in this. Tits alone don't cut it, Dakota.

On the other hand, I do love Russell Crowe and he's done some amazing work. Lately, though, he's not getting the kind of scripts he used to. I watched "Land of the Bad" the other day, and while it was a competent, military action movie, his part was kind of tired and unnecessary. He was fine in it, as was everyone, but it was a purely supporting role that was poorly written. Still, the man showed up and gave his all and I'm sure he wouldn't blame any bad reviews on the audience.

I liked it. Saw it on IMAX. I think it was very smart for Villeneuve to have Chani leave Paul. In present times, it wouldn't sit well with women for Chani to stay with Paul although he planned to marry Princess Irulan as the book portrays. In Messiah, Paul becomes a villain. Villeneuve shouldn't follow the book. Villeneuve in Dune Part 3 should have Paul remain a hero. He should have Paul realize that Chani is the love of his life and wants to go back to be the Paul Chani loved. Messiah was not as popular as Dune. Hebert wrote Messiah to correct people's interpretation that Paul was a hero. Did it ever occur to Hebert that that's want people like, a hero? In Messiah, Hebert wanted to show the result of people following someone fanatically. But people already learn that lesson in Adolf Hitler. People want to feel the romantic love between Paul and Chani not the sadness in someone embracing darkness. We have already seen this in Anakin Skywalker.

I absolutely appreciated it, and Villeneuve is phenomenal at bring scale into the film. I do still enjoy the 1984 version for its style choices and I love me some Lynch body horror, but the Weirding Module stuff was kinda silly. The TV Dune was great because it really aligned with the book, but the production values were so corny. I'm interested to see how Villeneuve handles Messiah. That is a tougher sell and I hope they don't just keep Chani alive so we see more Zendaya over telling that story.

I haven't seen it. Although it seems like something I normally would like, I was never able to finish even the first book, and the movies have never held my attention.

I think it's very well produced, designed, shot, cast, acted, (screen)written, and directed. For me, it had to better than Lynch's 'Dune' (1984), and much better than Alejandro Jodorowsky's approaches. There were problems with both of those earlier approaches, but their inventive, surreal approaches are much better than the problems. Villeneuve's 'Dune' is much more attractive, rich in effects, but also less surreal. Villeneuve's worlds are somewhat realistic and without mystery. The wierdness is gone in the new version. The enormous sets and massive budget created an entirely new universe that's almost impossible to compare with the earlier versions. Both Lynch's and Villeneuve's versions are re-watchable and interesting, though for different reasons.

Kinda off topic but I think the spice is symbolism for circumcision, that frank herbert found out Jews use the fore skin for life extending properties. I know it seems like an allegory for oil in Arab countries. But it comes from a worm? I guess that's why some thought it represented psychedelic mushrooms. It's similar to Allegro thinking Jesus represented a mushroom.

I listened to an independent movie reviewer discuss this. In SEC filings, Disney mentioned they didn't include the purchase price of LucasFilms in the numbers. Some obvious cooking-of-the-books.

It's alarming to hear allegations of misinformation regarding Disney's return on the Lucasfilm acquisition. Shareholders deserve accurate information to make informed decisions. I'm curious to see how this unfolds and what the true numbers reveal, @x trench run.

Mediocre reviews on Metacritic, but I enjoyed the previous two so this will be a fun flick to enjoy with various substances. I swear some of these review sites, once you get past the shills and the haters that is, assign the wrong people to review the wrong movies. Of course soy boy, art film critics will hate this - it's fun. Don't get me wrong, I like a good art film, but I can also enjoy a meaningless, amusement park ride too.

Good. Marvel should have never broken up Peter and MJ. MJ is a fixture in the Spider-Man comics. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was unnecessary for Dr. Strange to make the world forget Peter Parker. Dr. Strange could have made the world forget that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. For some unknown reason, Marvel wanted to make a sad movie, near Christmas at that.

God announced the events before they come to pass so that when you do see them fulfilled, your faith in the true and living God should be strengthened. But believing the prophecy will not save you. Only believing in the Lord Jesus Christ dying in your place on the cross will save you. There is no other Savior.

American war machine?

That's been a serious problem for at least 4 decades, and this support for Israel has caused 30,000 innocent deaths. What I've asked you about is evidence of God's intervention. If we are to believe the book of Zechariah as inofrmative of current circumstances, where's the potential evidence that this could be reliable? One can believe in God without believing in prophesies, or in every aspect of the story of Christ. That belief in God can be used by the Quaker United Nations Office to lobby against Israel's cuelty. This is a group I belong to. It's a way of believing in God and working toward peace. That to me is a way of working with God today.

Do you also want to know when God will serve justice for all of the innocent civilians raped and killed by the American war machine? We are all guilty of sin and need forgiveness, which can only be found through Jesus Christ.

God is always at work. Every one of us shall be judged, and are already being judged, according to our works.

As I said previously, "The Lord himself will bring the nations against Jerusalem." If you read Zechariah chapter 14, you would see that Jerusalem will suffer greatly, as they have also suffered in the past. Their houses will be looted, women raped, and people taken captive.

When men fight their wars without God, they face harsh consequences. God will also address the killing of the innocent people of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and all the other nations that have been attacked by the once-great America.
