Star Trek has always been a progressive show, since it first went on the air in the 60s. It featured a black woman in a position of authority, which was almost unheard of back then. It had one of the first interracial kisses shown on TV, which was considered scandalous at a time when black people were still fighting for equal rights.

A lot of people at the time hated it, and yet it thrived. Honestly, in a futuristic world with advanced medicine where an actual sex change might be feasible, trans people make a lot more sense.

    Urban Dictionary: Coulrophilia
Love of clowns, attraction to clowns. Coulrophilia is the paraphilia involving sexual attraction to clowns, mimes and jesters. The most likely reason behind this is because of lack of childhood, but some say the attraction is because the person behind the face paint could be anybody that you may or may not know.

First two seasons had a gay love story, a "don't be so binary" line, I bisexual, and the protagonist was black.

    Shits ultra fucking woke

I can only assume that CBS has found a way to monetise Twitter likes and glowing press coverage. They're certainly not relying on subscriptions or advertising to the dwindling audience for anything Star Trek.

The Star Trek universe should have stayed out of Clown World.

Babylon 5 already did it. They didn't call them trans, but one of the aliens was a Male in a female body.

" Jadzia Dax is a joined Trill. Though she appears to be a young woman, Jadzia lives in symbiosis with a wise and long-lived creature, known as a symbiont, named Dax. The two share a single, conscious mind, and her personality is a blending of the characteristics of both the host and the symbiont. As such, Jadzia has access to all the skills and memories of the symbiont's seven previous hosts. Prior to the symbiotic joining, Jadzia earned academic degrees in exobiology, zoology, astrophysics, and exoarchaeology. "

Lol, hell no. It's not like it was an otherwise good series plagued by too much diversity. The sequels were just generally bad movies.

    [–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Not just bad. They were also pushing their "toxic men" agenda.

They already had a transgender character.

Ol' Clayton Endicott III from Benson.

That crazy dude went non-binary, and recently lost it's talk show.
