Very interesting development. I know voat costs at least $6k per month to run, mostly because of their ridiculous .NET Azure licensing fees, because they re-wrote the entire codebase in .NET. It's been a serious problem for them. I do wonder who the investor was and what the terms were.

I thought they got rid of that during the last ciangel investor? I don't see how it costs so much, it's basically mirc with a cache and and ui. The actual name being 4 letters I thought was the most expensive part since I can spend hours and only use a megabyte from voat servers, it's only text once the ui is in cache.

No, I don't think they got rid of it. It's written in .NET, they can't just flip a switch and make those licensing fees go away

Newbs, shitshow anyway with the reddit brigades to make it racist. Cool site here though, the app is what got me here and whoever wrote the app is badass.

I agree with what you say about voat. /u/d3rr is the badass btw, he ported that app over to saidit for us :)
