Ian: I can't help but cringe every time I see how (vigte: hey ma, look at me!) in the title and I just quickly scroll past.

If you want me to check out your posts you need to drop the super cheesy "force pinned" comment.

You're acting like I speak in the third person consistently like some lunatic, when all I am doing is ensuring visible difference between the headline and an "analysis" which isn't long enough to warrant posting within the thread.

Or to differentiate my opinion from the headline, to ward off inevitable argumentation and semantics, for example this. Some people are silly enough to think the title of the posted article, reflects the beliefs of the poster - a common mistake I don't particularly feel the need to waste my time with, when I can openly mock the stupidity of the article, in the thread title.

Don't mistake visibility tactics and efficiency for a desire for attention.

No, I'm acting like you consistently want your take on the matter to trump all other user comments on the thread.

Ah, I see you're using public ridicule as an argument against my opinion.

Well, I think that since the users select what to send in AND have the ability to both change the title or make a new one, the user have editorial responsibility over those parts of the post and even a bit of responsibility for the validity of the content.

Don't mistake visibility tactics and efficiency for a desire for attention.

I don't consider posting one's own comments in the post title as an improvement in efficiency, but I DO consider the use of visibility tactics as a desire for attention.

Sometimes I am busy and only have a short amount of time to dedicate to "my take" - others, I spend more time, when I have it. Edit: This link is kind of a fractal representation of what I am talking about. You will say I didn't spend much time on it and it's not my best post, but I also don't feel like wasting the time looking for a better example. You see what I mean - about wasting time and efficiency? It kind of doesn't matter what someone thinks of it, when you know it's working for you.

My time is important to me - and I take out of it to share things and sometimes, that sharing is cutting into work or other such things, so it's not really a priority, but I want to share it anyway. Sorry if that doesn't "work for you".

Ah, I see you're using public ridicule as an argument against my opinion.

Like you did to begin this conversation?

Regardless of that, if you thought I was calling you silly, I was absolutely not! It is an experience I've had a lot on Reddit and once or two on here however and I seek to avoid the wasted time and negativity by distancing myself from titles that might seem unsettling.

Again, I was not referring to you in that sentence - or any of the other examples, I was explaining why I do it (because of OTHER people).

Well, I think that since the users select what to send in AND have the ability to both change the title or make a new one, the user have editorial responsibility over those parts of the post and even a bit of responsibility for the validity of the content.

I present the title of the article (as brought to you by whomever it is authored by) and then add my opinion on the end - when I don't have time to make a huge "submission statement" - which I enjoy taking my time on. Everyone is free to ignore it if they wish, it's not my loss.

I don't consider posting one's own comments in the post title as an improvement in efficiency,

You may not, but it works for me when I'm in a rush.

but I DO consider the use of visibility tactics as a desire for attention.

Or to facilitate visibility to share pertinent information that I found that I feel may be valuable to others - considering the state of affairs.

Edit 2:

No, I'm acting like you consistently want your take on the matter to trump all other user comments on the thread.

And if that is how is appears, I sincerely apologize.

I like the way you title things. Thank you for posting great content on the regular.
