By the way the count over there is WAY down because the bots are gone. Neat trick, that.

Very interesting. I hope someone does a write up on that. Who knows how much Reddit activity is bots.

That's obvious to anybody with more than a passing knowledge of social media. I assume every post on Deddit that reaches the front page of any forum there is pushed by bots, that's why all the topics aren't actually informative and are purely based on tribalistic nonsense. "Libs luv their avocadoes too much haha" and other garbage.

Great article. I agree that the near constant slope of the graph is absurdly consistent.

I have 2 questions.

1) How do they quantify "interest"?
2) Why is Bing so popular in South America, and along the equator?

Thanks. It does appear to be rigged with bots, and they have all the motivation to do so. As for your questions:

1) I think it's just the volume of searches for that term in the google search engine, but I'm not 100% sure

2) No idea

Awesome post and your trend line continues perfectly 1 year later.

Thanks. Haha I hadn't noticed it still continued. It really is such a fake line.

If they ever make it to the IPO the finance guys will certainly be interested in your post.

Ha I'd love that. You and I both saw a lot of this coming and that's why we created saidit, tbh. Reddit is becoming a zombie of its former self. They've been smart enough to change things slowly enough that it didn't implode like digg did, but I'm not sure if the zombie will be able to cross the IPO finish line. I bet once they go IPO, if they make it, the site's decline will go faster and faster.
