I do think mental illness plays the major role. They seem to think that it's the world's obligation to like them, and/or give them special treatment. Even going so far as to try and force the narrative through cancel-culture. They're too stupid to realize their imposing nature only builds resentment, and that alienates them further.

Okay one more thing, these guys are absolute nuts. They do the "reddit thing" with discord, and they monitor channels they don't like, and when someone joins it, they ban them from their own.

So while I can, on the one hand sympathize withbeing annoyed that culture war shit can derail whatever it is you are doing, you can't play both sides. You lean into it you get the backlash. You can't silence the user's and expect the product to do well if they are annoyed. Internet discourse won't always reflect the actual popular opinion but I've certainly decided to spend my money elsewhere over advertisements I've thought we're a bit too woke because it kills my interest in the product.

Like I saw this Netflix series about old video games once. Looked fun. Gets to the history of space invaders and they've got some trans person being interviewed as like space invaders world champion. So far so good I don't care that the person is trans, but then, all of the sudden they are droning on and on about how they are trans, no shit anyone with eyes can tell, and go on for far too long about how "playing space invaders let's me be my true self" you play as a fucking turret that is like 8 pixels across mate. Turned it off then stopped watching.

Once it goes from "topic I'm interested in" to "trans experience validation hugfest" I'm gonna tune out. Call me transphobic if you want fine, all that does is condition me to going from "not giving a shit about trans people if they're otherwise not doing shit" straight to "see transperson and expect some nonsense gender theory heaped into the product" so I avoid it.

Used to not care. Now if the trans person is visible in the marketing I've been burned enough times to know that you'll probably not have a good product and are just hopping on an acceptance hype train to guilt people into buying it to seem progressive.
