These people are mentally ill and being misled by gender ideology. I don't think we should be making fun of them when they are coming to terms with that reality and stepping out of their clown world uniforms.

Detransitioners are about 1 or 2 percent of those who transition.

It's likely that someone is being mislead by gender ideology. Amongst the possibilities that we're considering should be that it's you.

Is your problem with the existence of gender dysphoria?

Or do you think that the current best practise ways of dealing with it could be improved?

Historically it's been one of two percent. The rise of social media gender disphoria getting politicized and the recent massive change in demographics where we've seen a thousand fold increase in people getting treatment for gender disphoria along with a massive shift away from MTF to FTM becoming the most common, while utterly speculation at this point, I think we're looking at a future where nearly 50% of the people transitioning in the 2015-2025 decade or so will end up de-transitioning.

Essentially it used to be that you had to pass a bunch of psychological tests to get vetted for whether or not you could get hormones or surgeries or not. Pre internet it basically was super rare. (Hence why people would try to bypass this and go to places like Thailand for sketchy surgeries).

Now with the internet you've got whole groups of people sharing their tips on how to pass the vetting procedures as well as convincing themselves that their basic run of the mill teen depression / puberty woes actually are because they are trans. They basically give out hormones like candy now (and self treatment also happens a lot).

And the barrier to entry for the surgeries is also extremely diminished.

THIS. I just tried to say that but you write it prettier.
