The drug culture is generally cringe. Aside from the casual stuff about drugs that are more “common” in stories of life-destroying addiction, there’s this Hippie Reneval 2.0. Bunch of Redditors who bring up drugs in discussion in other subs too, even if it’s for example related to psychology or meditation, etc. Basically psychedelic worshippers who claim that only this very special substance allowed them to see behind the fabric of reality and anyone who is skeptical or against drugs is a moron. Thanks, I don’t think spending money on this trash or pretending you’re enlightened is smart at all. Cue the fact how they are likely to praise drugs and not actual activities helping with personal development. That kind of people who might criticize capitalism but various hallucinogenic substances are suddenly rad.

Psychoactive substance use prevails in every society. People seek out drugs such as caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, cannabis, psilocybin etc. It is naive to think that humans are not compelled to alter our perceptions.

Psychedelics in particular are not for the faint hearted but tend to be non-addictive, seldom used and have profound positive experiences. Most addicts to substances like heroin do not want to be addicts, many even become addicted through medication given by doctors.

There are more functional drug users in the world than most people care to admit, and casual users of drugs get immediately tarnished with the brush by being called abusers and addicts, or encouragers. This is how safety knowledge is impaired and people end up making stupid mistakes.

It's easy to demean an addict, but a man who has never smoked a cigarette knows nothing of the difficulty of quitting.

Quiet simply, the traits people dislike in drug users are the traits people dislike in anyone. Laziness, unemployment, mood swings, selfishness, aggression, annoyingly always talking about a subject that you can't relate to....Drug users who are homeless probably aren't homeless because of drugs, people who are lazy were probably lazy before they used drugs.
