Depending on the sub you can get banned for less than that! This happens to me frequently...

Correct me if I am wrong but this doesn't sound like a subreddit ban but a ban site wide. Once reddit admin political biases start descending into individual subreddits then it could mean the value of Reddit as a whole goes down ( especially in terms of free speech ).

Reddit hasn't had any value in terms of free speech for a very long time. There's literally nothing left to "go down".

If the maths and physics subreddits moved from Reddit to here I would have no reason to stay there.
