There was a vote on whether or not to do it. The vote was overwhelmingly "no". Going on Fox News isn't going to win anyone over. There is nothing to be gained. You're just there so they can have a "gotcha" moment. This person stepped up and did the interview anyway, saying that they had television interview experience.

I studied this myself and couldnt find whether this story was true or not. From this Saidit post

I've been trying to find the truth about u/AbolishWork being chosen for the Fox interview.

The mods of r/AntiWork claim that they turned down the Fox interview invitation and u/AbolishWork decided to do it anyway.

u/AbolishWork claims they were requested for the interview by name and the other mods agreed.

Whatever happened, r/AntiWork is dead now - which is hilarious.

yeah they made that up later, they wanted him to go on foxnews because they thought he would own the evil republican reporter guy with facts lol.
