I don't think they need to shut down reddit any more with how locked down it is. 10 years ago anyone could post anything and the algorithm would put it on the front page. Now everything gets filtered and controlled.

Yeah. Even the slideline subs like /r/conspiracy, I used to be able to post stuff there and get a wide audience. Now I post the same quality of stuff, and it immediately gets like 5 downvotes and no one ever sees it. So I quit posting there, because that always happens. I assume a lot of other people had the same happen to them. It's how the narrative is controlled, and it's a major reason why saidit doesn't have downvotes.

I think if you ever post on /r/conspiracy your account is marked and you are targetted for vote capping.

Could be. I definitely got banned from a ton of other subreddits for participating there. And it's always used as a character assassination thing, trolls are losing their argument and then they go "Oh I see you post on /r/conspiracy, you're clearly a nutter, no need to pay any more attention to you".

Which is of course why the crazy-sounding subreddit is the only one allowed to talk about certain things. To make those ideas look crazy by association. One way of controlling the Overton Window and controlling the online narrative.

Yep I think they did the same thing to all of us that posted on conspiracy. That reminds me... Did you notice /r/conspiracytheory has been abandoned? The last new post was 2 years ago. I tried to get it but if course reddit would not give it to me....

No I hadn't heard of that one before. /r/conspiracy_commons is alright, it's one of the few I pay attention to. It's not perfect, but it's there
