Just to clarify; Peng Shui won the Wimbledon Women's Doubles final in 2013.

Lest we forget? Was there not a large ($100 million if I remember correctly) investment from a Chinese company not so many years ago? (Which is just the CPP anyway)

I doubt anyone would be shocked if this was a form of soft censorship. Reddit has lots all credibility some time ago.

Fairly popular post about how a tennis champion disappeared after speaking out against abuses she suffered from a politician is removed by reddit. Reddit is at least 10% owned by China, and here we see them literally doing the CCP's bidding by removing this post

might be fake news because I went to r/worldnews and there is an article about this like ten threads down so maybe they just deleted that one so someone else can get the karma

That could be. But there also exists the soft censorship of deleting a peaking story as it's rising over a technicality, but then allowing later replacements that will never get as high. It probably limits the visibility of the story by 70% as it'll never hit the top spot again, but no one can technically cry censorship as it's still being allowed. It's a smart form of soft censorship without ruffling too many feathers. Not sure if that's what's happening here but it's possible

good point

they might also soon delete the other thread if it gets too popular, and keep deleting them like a wack a mole

Yup. And then they may even reinstate some of them later after it doesn't matter anymore, and then go "Look, we didn't censor anything". There's a lot of very subtle manipulation happening on reddit, in addition to the overt manipulation

Political dissidents there would be lucky to stay in one piece and in one person.
