I mean it could go over my mouth as a gag (not a very effective one though) but why would I eat it?

I have no idea why. I don't know of many people who do, why it's so common (for women at least) is kind of a mystery. And it's true that it has to be restraints, merely being put in a cage or locked room won't be anywhere near as exciting.
