Polyamory is older than marriage since the latter is a constructed institution that didn't always exist. If it hadn't been a serious threat to marriage before, I don't see why it would be now.
One of the things I've noticed is that women who are away from their partners for significant amounts of time, like in the military, oil rig workers, long distance relationships, workaholics, etc, generally don't stay faithful. Perhaps you've heard of the much maligned Jody who takes care of neglected military wives.
So what are your options here
