Probably men who know they aren't attractive adopt liberal politics to put on a niceguy act and wokefish women.

These guys mostly aren't really liberal or nice, they are manipulative.

Call me old fashioned but to me being liberal means wanting people to have the freedom to do what they want so long as they don't hurt anyone else. You won't find many self declared liberal men in the anglosphere who think like that.

Yeah, it's a term that's meant many different things over the years. Ultimately it suggests some sense of permissiveness, making it highly incompatible with authoritarian and collectivist ideologies. Like plain left and right, it has little descriptive power. I prefer terms like 'identitarian left' to describe the identity obsessed collectivists or 'male feminist' to describe people who should not be left unattended with women or girls.

that is a conservative viewpoint. Liberalism left you long behind. Current liberal (remember, it is 'progressive', so always moving left) holds that that viewpoint is conditional on the level of 'oppression' of the person it is applied to.

Nope. Liberalism literally comes from liberty. It's isn't the same as left wing. The left wing has many different political movements on it many of which are illiberal. Socialists and liberals have never liked each other. Marx was reacting against the Liberalism of his time over 100 years ago, Marxism comes out of the rejection of liberalism.

Conservatives have adopted liberal policies recently because they learn they could make the rich richer (which is what Marx also saw). These aren't traditional Conservative beliefs though.

I get that you want to define 'liberal' to suit your self image. I was a liberal. My views no longer align with progressive liberalism, and I reject 'liberal democracy'. I find that most of my previously 'liberal' beliefs were actually grounded in conservative family & home, with less repressive church dogma, and more of the christian side.

I'm 100% positive, that 'live and let live' is a conservative viewpoint. You may be confusing it with a religious right view

as i said. most of my classical liberal views turned out to also be conservative viewpoints. The differences are minor, imo, and the worst ideas of classical liberalism (the idea that it is some kind of borg colective, and will assimilate all it touches) are the aspects that I reject, anyway.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/is-classical-liberalism-conservative-1507931462

fir example:

One argument between liberals and Burkean and other conservatives who in important respects stand close to liberalism is related to this central liberal conception. While liberals typically expect the market in the widest sense — the network of voluntary exchanges — to generate a system of institutions and mores conducive to its continuance, conservatives insist that the indispensable underpinning must be provided by the state beyond the simple protection of life, liberty, and property, including especially state support of religion.

which system do you recognise as liberal? Because modern 'conservatism' seems to be very much against the heavy state involvement in modern life, byond having a state religion, and modern progressive liberalism seems to embrace ever increasing interference.

Its almost as if all these ideas are constantly in flux.

Most of the article you linked is behind a paywall, so I couldn't get to the meat of it. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I do think that there are overlapping lines between classic liberalism and modern conservatism, but I view modern conservatism (at least in the U.S.) as holding on to traditional values and order. Classic liberalism in my view is more of a "live and let live" approach, albeit with law and order. I think labels are getting in the way and how those labels are presented to us through the media.

I think this is quite insightful.

Liberalism is a female worldview

In order to survive, it must be balanced with a conservative male worldview.

We are suffering due to the demonisation of patriarchy, with matriarchy running wild.

i got told off for saying men need to 'man up', because I didn't find the modern 'in touch with my feelings' man even slightly attractive or useful. But it is true. A man needs to be strong, to take control (to override my natural instincts to nurture injured animals), and be able to build

All the talk about toxic masculinity overlooks the toxicity of the feminine. The inbalance of the idea that only masculinity is toxic is bound to rub anyone older than 19 wrong.

about ten years ago, i was at a twelve step meeting in california, and there was this wow cute red head girl.. there was no thing about her that led me to even suspect that she was transgender.. so anyways, when i was trying to catch her attention for probably a few weeks, absolutely nobody told me that she was trans, and so i pursued her like i was tarzan and she was jane.. we would sit up at the picnic table outside the group sometimes until 4am.. until one day she just casually mentioned that she likes to "peg" her boyfriend.. truth is, i had never heard that term before, but it just made all of the tumblers fall into place.. she was a trans girl, with a dick, and she wanted to fuck me.

ohh my.. yeah, nice meeting ya.

but i wanna tell you, on the exterior, she was flawless.

pure curiosity, what do you mean by feminine? Because, while I might be wrong, I don't think muscle mass is related to political view.

    [–]bobbobbybob 11 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 2 fun -  (10 children)

I don't think muscle mass is related to political view.

You may find that muscle mass gained from typical conservative male physical work (ie, the stuff you need to do to raise a family. Build houses, cut wood, dig trenches, etc etc etc) is statistically significant compared to the liberal city dwellers lack of work based muscle mass

    [–]Node 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The type of process used would seem likely to have major effects on the resulting mental effects. 'Gym muscles' vs 'physical labor muscles' are very different, as are the set of experiences associated with both.

    [–]Akali 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

Ever heard of a gym? I know, it sound sci fi, but even in our time, we have access to it.

    [–]Node 9 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Is this you coming out as a liberal city dweller? Science fiction muscle building in a lab or gym is quite different from building houses, cutting wood, and other physical work done to raise a family. How you obtain the muscle mass will have vastly different effects on your mental state, and resulting views of the world.

    [–]Akali 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'm not a liberal. I just don't understand the correlation. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't ask the people around what they vote for.

To me, being in shape is at the reach of everyone so there shouldn't be any correlation. Historically, I'd agree with you, but with gym all around, I'm not so sure you are correct.

Like, I've done martial art my whole life, I'm center right, but I didn't do martial art because I was center right, I did it because its fun. Surely I'm not the only person doing stuff because I like to.

    [–]bobbobbybob 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

They probably mean feminine behavior — but I honestly wouldn't even say that, since liberal women ain't all that feminine. If I had to choose a single word to describe how liberals behave, it would be "animalistic".

What woman would kill her own baby? What father would allow his child to be murdered? No real woman would have an abortion, and no real man would allow it — but animals are savage, they often kill their own babies for little or no reason, and that's exactly how Liberals behave.

        [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (50 children)

They mean they want a manly man, not some limp wristed fop espousing women's studies. Someone who will bend them over and satisfy their cock lust.

Women say they want sensitive, nice guys because they're non threatening, but that type of guy doesn't drench their panties.

        [–]Comatoast 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

All of this is just personal observation and opinion, so take it with a grain of salt:

Eh.. strength, fortitude, the ability to make hard decisions when I can't and can take over when I'm overwhelmed. A feeling of protection, and a desire to protect them too, fierce loyalty.

Muscles are nice, but I mean it's not one of the only things that brings to mind masculinity. There's an aura it carries. Feminine men aren't feminine in the same way that women are, per se, but more the most wretched qualities generally negatively associated with being female, amplified. It's just different, and also kind of gross usually. Like an underlying insidiousness that they'll sacrifice you for whatever suits their will. To be fair, I've always been really put off by fuckhuge beefmuscles with like 4 extra Quad muscles and biceps the size of my waist-- but that's not really masculinity, more obsession with a challenge or some flavor of extreme narcissism.

        [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

You want someone to be there for you when you need someone to be there for you. A partner. You and them against all the challenges and obstacles in life you encounter. Someone who will pick you up if you fall.

        [–]Comatoast 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

There's inherent masculinity in the features that I described though, it's very much not the same as support and dynamic there has been with women (for me). Not to say that they can't be those things, but it's just extremely different.

It all goes down to survival. Our sexuality is an ancient survival mechanism. And I'm speaking in generalities here but typically guys want to fuck as much as possible, best chance for them to propagate. We're simple creatures like that. Women have an incentive to find a strong male because they're going to be knocked up with child then saddled with the brat and they need resources, a caretaker, to survive.

Women also have an incentive to surround themselves with weak males. More protection and care taking without cost (pregnancy). Second tier males who make failed bids to have a shot at breeding are exiled from the community (they exist today as incels, in olden times they usually probably just died off -- the natural revulsion a person feels for incels is instinctual).

I think that pretty much sums up everything about modern heterosexual relationships. Sure, we fancied it up over the years but it all goes down to the basics.

Homosexuality seems to be genetic, since computer programs can identify homosexuals that means there's a relationship to appearance and genetics would be the obvious answer. Why those genetics are expressed may have to do with environmental factors, such as overcrowding.

Trans... Fuck if I know, you should probably explain that one to me. I figure it's psychological.

        [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (32 children)

Thanks, I guess. Obviously, people have to have sex to make babies, I just don't like it.

Transgenderism is quite simple: society expects people to behave in certain ways according to whether they have a penis or a vagina, even if the behaviors are entirely unrelated, but some people behave differently than the expectation.

I ain't sure how certain behaviors became associated with genitals, such as wearing make-up and shaving your legs, but others make more sense: women have kids, so naturally they take care of them, and that leaves men with the responsibility to work.

        [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (28 children)

society expects people to behave in certain ways according to whether they have a penis or a vagina, even if the behaviors are entirely unrelated, but some people behave differently than the expectation.

I behave differently than the expectation. I actually recently got kicked off my discord Cripplingalcoholism server for having a relationship that isn't gender normative. Not even like I'm drastically bending social norms, my wife just makes more money than I do. That still invokes feelings of disgust. Also goes back to the sex thing. Alpha males who are old (bad providers) would be challenged.

Anyways, my point is that it doesn't mean I see myself as a woman just because I'm an atypical man.

I ain't sure how certain behaviors became associated with genitals, such as wearing make-up and shaving your legs, but others make more sense: women have kids, so naturally they take care of them, and that leaves men with the responsibility to work.

I really love the word ain't. Growing up my teachers liked to say "ain't ain't a word," but it's a nice southern touch if you ask me.

Yeah, it's kind of similar to that. People tend to expect humans with penises to make more money than humans with vaginas.

I really love the word ain't.

        Ain't you from Texas?

Growing up my teachers liked to say "ain't ain't a word,"

That's Yankee imperialism for ya. Empires always impose their language upon their colonies in order to strip the natives of their identity — that's what the federal school system was designed to do. The only way to save the South is to restore our tenth amendment right to educate our kids.

but it's a nice southern touch if you ask me.

It's not simply a "southern touch", it's a protest against imperialism! Honestly, if I had to choose one word to symbolize Dixie's struggle for sovereignty, it'd be "ain't".

Gillette made shaving your legs a thing to sell razor blades. Seriously.

Yep. Hard to argue that's a bad thing, though. I personally shave everywhere just because it makes me feel cleaner, lol.

Make up is just about attracting a mate, lots of animals do it too.

I don't think so. Married women wear make-up, asexual women wear make-up, etc. It's just about looking presentable. And even then, it doesn't explain why right-wingers think it's only for humans with vaginas.

It can be used as a way to bring attention to certain features. I've sat on top of the sink countertop about a billion times as a teenager after finding this old website with pixelated goth eye makeup designs just using my face as a canvas. There's a creativity there that can be tapped into that's not really meant to be pleasing for others or not, just fun and a way to absolve boredom. I've seen some pretty negative shit from both men and women regarding it, and I can't ever understand why it matters so much.

i stopped wearing make up years ago (when my eyes got wrinkles!) because I wasn't living in a city, and I started doing real, physical work. Less of an ornament. Now i find the young girls in shops look so weird, with their thick masks of paint. the current huge eyebrow trend (drawn on in pencil over the real thing) is hilarious.

There are tons of women here who don't wear any, so makeup is less a norm.

I guess if I was going to a part-ay, i might use some mascara and lipstick, just to fit in, but it would feel really weird.

Anyways, I poked that around my butt cheeks and shaved all my ass hair without even cutting myself once. Which is impressive if you ask me. Anyways, I got this ingrown hair and it was... Unpleasant.

I used to manscape long before it was a thing to feel cleaner and sexier, back when I actually was.

i don't get why you feel the need to change sex in order to satisfy a gender role requirement. Can't you just be a dude and do whatever the fuck you want, without having to play make believe with hormones and pronouns?

        TG is so patriarchy, enforced.

I ain't sure how certain behaviors became associated with genitals,

Some of it really is baffling. I'm a husky 6' dude, but I have very long hair. Not the first time. This time I have a long white beard. No one's ever confused me for female.

Other things I do people may consider me eccentric and no one would confuse me with "normal" - especially in the small normie city I've been in for the last 10 years. Yet no one has called the white coats to haul me off to the loony bin.

I saw the picture on infogalactic. You could probably pretend to be Santa and kids would believe you.

on your current trajectory, no, you won't.

maybe stop being afraid of it?

I really enjoy killing nazis in video games, that's about as far as I fetishise it.

Not you, the women who want the conservatives -> Alt-Right -> Nazis. I'm an unkosher jokester.

Anyone not a SJW = Nazi. OP about a SJW with a Nazi fetish.

Either that or I was hitting on you asking if you like gay cosplay. Now you've got me confused and questioning...

OP about a SJW with a Nazi fetish

It's not though. The basic premise is liberal guys are weak. It's probably a fake fucking post but that's a legitimate sentiment. Women don't like weak guys. No matter what they say.

        [–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

        I was joking.

        Sounds legit to me.

Being muscular and having a good physique falls into the "personal responsibility" category. Getting fit isn't something that can be handed to you - you have to work for it, which lines up better with the conservative viewpoint of personal responsibility and working for what you have.

Most of the fitness influencers and youtubers I watch tend to be right-wing and I don't think that's a coincidence.

        Nonsense.

She wants a man with sizable man boobs. You don't get much more feminine than that whle still claiming to be a man.
